The Best Ways To Cool Your Swimming Pool

During summer and spring, the water in swimming pools can obtain unbearable temperatures. As one of the top swimming pool designers in California, we get many questions from consumers regarding ways to cool a swimming pool. In this blog, we share a few tips that can help you keep the water in your swimming pool at a refreshing temperature.

Switch on the pump at night

The pump is the heart of your pool’s circulation system. It is a critical component in the filtration process. In addition to keeping the water clean, it can bring down the temperature of the water by a few degrees. If your pool has a solar heating system or water features (waterfalls, fountains, etc.), you can run them at the same time to accelerate the cooling process.

Utilize a mechanical evaporative cooler

You can install a mechanical evaporative cooler in your pool’s plumbing system. These devices use fans to lower the temperature of the pool water during its passage through the cooling system. Running the cooler at night will lower the temperature of the pool water by as much as 10 degrees.

Utilize a reverse-cycle heat pump

A reverse-cycle heat pump can both heat and cool the water in your pool. They use a refrigerant to keep the pool water at a specified temperature. Some pumps can only switch on and off, while others can switch between cooling and heating cycles as well. Although they can complete the job in a short time, they are an expensive solution.
